UNDER THE SAME STARS
STF EXISTS TO BRING PEOPLE CLOSER TO NATURE. BUT FOR SOME, NATURE REMAINS OUT OF REACH.
Every person in Sweden has the right to nature, it’s the promise of Allemansrätten, a core value for STF. But for over 200,000 children currently living in Sweden’s intensive care units, access to forests, mountains and starry skies is out of reach.
Studies show that nature heals, even when it’s digital. Virtual nature can lower stress, soothe anxiety and even support recovery. So, we created a way for hospitalized children to experience the freedom of the outdoors, without leaving their beds.
We designed a night lamp that projects Sweden’s night sky, northern lights and deep forests onto hospital walls and ceilings, transforming sterile rooms into calming, magical landscapes. We aslo created a star-shaped reflector for the public. Part safety item, part symbol of the childrens strenght. Each one helps fund more lamps for children’s wards.

Nature was never meant to be exclusive. The sky does not choose who gets to see it, the stars do not decide who is worthy of their light, the forest does not ask for permission. In Sweden, we call it Allemansrätten. The Right of Public Access, a promise that nature belongs to everyone.
But in this moment, not everyone can reach it. Not the children who fall asleep to the rhythm of machines, not the ones whose nights are measured in heartbeats on a monitor, not the children in intensive care.
Their world is restricted to four walls, a ceiling and a door that rarely opens to the outside. At STF, we believe no one should be left outside. So if they cannot reach nature, we will bring nature to them.
Under the Same Stars is an initiative that carries Sweden’s night sky to the bravest of us all, the children in ICU. With a lamp that projects Sweden’s starry sky across hospital walls and ceilings, we create a window to something bigger. A reminder that beyond this room, beyond this moment, there is a world waiting.
Many of us remember staring at stars above our childhood beds. For a moment, the ceiling disappeared. The world grew larger, we were free to dream. We want to offer that freedom. A reminder that the world is bigger than four walls, that beyond darkness, there is light.
Help us light the night. Because wherever we are, whatever we are facing, we are all under the same stars.
